FOUNDED in 1986 as a venue for childern K-12 to explore all aspects of theater with adult supervision, Smiles and Frowns is a nonprofit organization that produces two plays annually. Since 2001, the playhouse has made its home at the Ayden Arts and Recreation Center. However, Smiles and Frowns draws from a diverse company ranging across Pitt County and eastern North Carolina. The "staff" is made up completely of volunteers, who help children learn about theater both on and behind the stage. So join us and help support premier children's theater in eastern North Carolina!
