PopUp Playhouse is ON!!

The wait is over!! PopUp Playhouse is happening. We have scheduled two workshops: October 10 and October 17 from 12:30pm to 4pm at the Ayden District Park. The link for the sign-up will be posted right here on Wednesday at noon and there are only spaces for 24 actors (aged 8 to 18), so don't wait to sign up. Actors can attend only one of the workshops. If there is no space left when you go to sign up, please send an email through the contact tab or on our Facebook Page: Smiles and Frowns Playhouse. If there is enough interest, we may add an additional session on November 7th. Additional information is included in the attached document.

No Fall 2020 Production

The Smiles and Frowns Playhouse board delayed making a decision about the fall production for as long as they could. But after watching the latest developments in the COVID-19 pandemic, it has become evident that staging a production this fall would not be wise under the current and forecast conditions. We felt that we would not be able to maintain adequate social distancing during rehearsals, work days and performances and did not want to put actors, tech crew, parents, or audience members at risk of infection. We value our Playhouse family and will miss having the opportunity to work and create together for the next few months. However, we intend to proceed with the planning for a spring 2021 production and are looking forward to seeing everyone at auditions in January.

Weather Woes

Eyes are on the weather for tomorrow. A decision about whether to cancel the rehearsal will be made by 2pm tomorrow. Current forecast is for snow to start after 8pm, so no risk.

Ad Deadline Febraury 19th

Want to support children doing theater in eastern North Carolina? Place an ad in the playbill for our next production. Please make contact by February 19th. Here's the link to the form: http://www.smilesandfrowns.org/sites/default/files/public/Smiles%20and%2...

No tech on Saturday

Hey everyone on The Jungle Book tech crew!
We will not be working on the set this Saturday. There are going to be some changes that need to be worked out before we can proceed further with the construction. So, enjoy your weekend break and we'll see everyone next week on the 22nd to continue building our jungle. We'll see everyone then! --Ms Susan

Support Children's Theater

We love to have people watching our shows and we also love having lots of information for them to look at in the playbill before the show starts. Consider showcasing your business with our audience by putting an ad in the playbill. Prices start as low as $30. We usually have between 400 and 500 tickets sold for our production and sometimes even more!

The deadline for submission is February 19th. All the info is on the ad form. All proceeds are used to support our theater productions and our mission of engaging children in all aspects of theater. Thank you for your support!

Tomorrow's the Deadline!
